Andrew Lopez obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Plant Sciences from UC Santa Cruz, where his research focus was on invasive weed ecology. He has experience working with unique production systems in controlled environment agriculture and was previously working with the UC Cooperative Extension in Santa Clara County. Prior to joining the NSCRCD, he was providing technical assistance related to integrated pest management to small farmers in the county. He is an avid gardener with a strong interest in native plants, and is excited about ways that California’s native flora can help support agriculture. If he’s not gardening in his free time, he enjoys spending time with his cats, birdwatching, and seeing live music. Andrew is excited to be able to work towards more sustainable and resilient agricultural and natural resource systems.
