Director Matt Roben's diverse career spans entertainment and service. He spent three decades as a circus artist and actor and four years as a Chicago Police Officer. Returning to San Jose, he and his wife founded Rancho Roben Rescues, a 12-acre sanctuary providing a forever home for 200 farm animals where permaculture and regenerative agriculture are the methods used on the land they steward. As "The Kilted Auctioneer," he leverages his entertainment skills for fundraising. Matt is a member of Rotary Club of San Jose, Santa Clara County Sheriff Search and Rescue, and plays bagpipes with San Jose Police Emerald Society. 

Director Roben was appointed to the District's Board of Directors in December 2024.
