Director Application

North Santa Clara Resource Conservation District (NSCRCD) is seeking candidates for an open position on its volunteer Board of Directors. NSCRCD is an independent special district (public agency). Its five-member volunteer Board provides policy and fiscal direction to the District in support of its mission, which is “to provide education and technical assistance to constituents and watershed stakeholders to sustainably manage soil, water and wildlife with the best available science”.  This opportunity is perfect for those who have a genuine interest in and knowledge of conserving natural resources and preserving agricultural lands within Santa Clara County.

Board members must be registered voters in California, will have a demonstrated interest in soil and water conservation, and are required to meet at least one of the following: 1) reside within NSCRCD boundaries and either own real property in the district or alternatively have served, pursuant to the district’s rules, for two years or more as an associate director providing advisory or other assistance to the board of directors; or 2) be a designated agent of a resident landowner within NSCRCD boundaries.  Because the current vacancy was created by a mid-term resignation, the appointment will have an intial term ending date of November 27, 2026.

NSCRCD has adopted an Environmental and Social Justice Policy to guide its governance, programming and activities. As public officials, Directors also are required to complete ethics and harassment training every two years, and complete a Statement of Economic Interests (FPPC Form 700) at regular intervals, including upon assuming office.  Directors do not receive financial compensation for serving on the board, however they may be eligible for expense reimbursements, subject to the provisions of the District’s reimbursement policies. Additional information regarding the position of Director can be found in the District’s Director Duties and Responsibilities Policy.

The Board held first interviews at its May 2, 2024 Board meeting, and will consider conducting additional interviews at its special Board meeting on May 15, 2024.  If you would like to submit an application, please do so by Monday, May 13, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. so that we have sufficient time to process the applications and include them in the agenda packet.

To submit an application, please download and complete the following Word document, and then submit it using the Submission Form below or by emailing it to gcrcd@gcrcd.org . For assistance with your application or to request reasonable accommodations to submit it in an alternate format,  please contact the NSCRCD office at 408-288-5888 or email Executive Director Stephanie Moreno at  gcrcd@gcrcd.org .
